I was wondering how Behold is set up to work with adoptions and blended families. I have some ancestors from the 1700's who were married more than once having children with each spouse and then the children were adopted/blended into one family. I noticed on my file, that one of these families showed that a child was a member of one of the families (he died shortly after birth). This child had a younger brother who does not show up under the biological dad, but does show up under the adopted father. Is there a way for this child to show up under both the biological and adopted parent?

Thank you.
Jennifer

Hello Jennifer,

I had designed Behold to understand multiple sets of parents. Children should show up under both their biological and adopted parents.

Now saying that, I've made a lot of changes to Behold since I had first programmed and tested this ability. If it doesn't work it's a bug. For the next version, I do have an entry in my Future Plans to "Make sure Behold displays multiple parents appropriately".

I only have one user test file that includes adoptions. It could be that your GEDCOM has a different arrangement of adoptions that Behold does not handle correctly. If you don't mind sending me a copy of your GEDCOM, I'd be happy to use it to fully test its handling of adoptions. I would keep your GEDCOM private and only use it for testing.

Louis
