Purchased one of the ASP-based Link Indexing tools called Aspweblinks. Set it up and played with it a bit. It would take a fair bit of customization to get this the way I’d want it. It seemed to have everything I wanted, but is nowhere near as sophisticated as BroadBoard is.

Thought more about a Genealogy Program Rating page. Found my old printout of the “http://www.deja.com” Genealogy Software rating page. That site was bought out by Google a few years ago to get the newsgroup history, and the rating pages were not continued. Thought of how I would set up the ratings. Would want to make them totally automatic so that I would not have to intervene at all. It should show the last year of ratings, so that way they would always be updated and not contain old info (although the old info would be accessible so that the history of how a program was rated could be seen, to see if it is getting better or worse).

I looked at the Aspweblinks Access database structure and the BroadBoard Access database structure. After a while, I came up with how I would implement a Deja-like Genealogy Software user rating system. It would be really neat and useful. But I’m getting a bit off track for now. If I do this, I’ll have to do it in my (ha, ha) spare time.
