Looking more through the Event GEDCOM: It has some things that are really important. It makes “places” a top-level entity which is something I have always thought necessary. I wrote down for myself a few ways I can implement Event GEDCOM’s concepts into the Behold Everything report. Mainly needed is the concept of “roles”, which would allow you for example to include everyone who was invited to or attended a wedding and their relationship to those married. This is the sort of evidence that is often not considered for genealogy, but could be very valuable. If you find out your grandfather’s wedding had some of his unrelated neighbors invited, you might be able to track them or their descendants down and get important information. Or, you could even use Behold for things other than genealogy: You could use it to see who is inviting who to all the events in your family to help build up those strange people-relationship diagrams. I know I want to use Behold one day to help with invitation lists for our family’s special events.

The mouse highlighting problems of Feb 15 seem to be related to my attempt to implement Sergey’s overwrite mode suggestions on Feb 9. I found an older backup of Behold I had saved on Dec 30, and it didn’t have the problem. Copy and paste my old code from that old version and the problem and I could revert back to what I had … but I did have a few bad bugs before that led to program crashes. Maybe its better if I just simplify the overwrite more for now and leave it at that. I don’t really need it until I implement editing, and that won’t be until version 2. Maybe Sergey will build overwrite mode into Richview by then.

Later that evening, my daughter encounters a virus on the computer. AVG Antivirus detected it and it says it is the “Trojan Horse MusicSearch”. I run the AVG full scan and its taking a long time, so I’ll let it go overnight.
