I know I will one day need to upgrade my website service. With my Behold maillist growing and the Behold user forum’s potential to grow, I will need more than the 100 MB I now have allocated. My options are to either upgrade with myhosting.com who is my current provider, or to move to a new service that has Windows Server hosting.
So I wandered around the web to see what I could find. There are some providers out there that have better packages than what myhosting provides. For example, a good list of some excellent services is at: www.hosting-comparison.com/info/windows-hosting. In my case, I would prefer to stay with a Canadian service, so I looked for a list of top Canadian Windows hosting services.
So over the next few months, I’ll have to weigh the options of what the others provide, versus what an upgraded plan at myhosting would be. It would be a big job to move my site over somewhere else and make sure everything, including all my scripts, still work at a new site. So upgrading would be easier, but I would only do that if myhosting can give me everything I need.
But myhosting has done well for me, so I’m not inclined to change hosts unless there is something I need that they cannot provide.
You do have to be careful though. I found one host that appears to provide a fantastic service for relatively little cost: Global Internet Solutions. Well, look around the web for some opinions, and among other things, you’ll find this. And if you want to laugh (or cry), look at this. Buyer beware!
