The 2nd Access Violation was because of a file that had a few links between INDI and FAM records that were only specified in one direction rather than both ways as the GEDCOM standard states. Behold handled these when it loaded them in, but it gave an Access Violation when it tried to release the memory for them.
I have a replacement Behold.exe file that gets around this Access Violation and the other one I described in my previous blog post. I’ll be sending out a Behold News e-mail to everyone with instructions on how to update with this .exe if you get this problem.
I’ve now adjusted my current plans to incorporate many of the user suggestions I got. See the Behold Future Plans page for details. I may be a bit ambitious on my time frame (still trying to get the Beta out by the end of November), but I’ll see how it goes and adjust the expected dates as the amount of time required to make the changes becomes clearer.
Two suggestions I got were in conflict: one to make the people’s names bold, and the other to make the event names bold. Doing both might be too much, and I’m not sure right now which is more important. It might be a user preference thing. If you’d like to comment on this, the best place might be on the Discussion Forum so that everyone can pipe in. I’ve opened a topic for this: Should Names or Events be bold? Which is more important to you?
