A good days work today! I converted the Place Index over as I wanted. It was quite tricky because Places are sorted differently than other items and needed some custom handling. That part went okay, though. Making sure the hyperlinking then worked was even tougher, since places do not have a short code like S4-3 to use. I got the place links working everywhere except in exported HTML and RTF files, and I’ll leave that to fix during Beta testing.
Most hyperlinks in Behold, like: S4-3 are highlighted in blue and underlined. But for places, I sort of invented “invisible hyperlinks”, so that the text of the place: Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada will be regular text color and not underlined. Mousing over it will change the cursor into a hand, and a click will take you to the Place detail. I think that is best, because having all the place names underlined and colored would make the text hard to read and look very cluttered. So that’s done.
Next, I’ve got to just go through most of my sample cases to make sure the new detail sections can handle most of the things thrown at it. I know a few little fixups will be needed. Then, I’ll release alpha 0.97.
