Didn’t get much time to work on Behold. We had a big happy family event that took the whole weekend and zapped me and my family’s energy.

But I did buy my older daughter the digital camera she’s been wanting. After studying what’s highly rated but still economical, I decided on the Canon A400. She loves it, and it takes better pictures than my 2-year old digital Minolta. We also decided to not go for rechargeable batteries, since 2 regular AA batteries seem to last about 60 photos, or only about 1 cent a photo. It would take 6000 photos before you even pay off the capital cost of rechargeable batteries and a charger.

A digital camera is an essential tool for a genealogist. I recommend a small one you can put into your pocket or purse and take everywhere with you. One of the Canon Elph series would be perfect, and it will be my next camera when my current one dies. You never know when you might encounter something, someone, some place, or some document that you can get a permanent record of if you have a camera on you.
