In my seemingly neverending quest for the “perfect” research organizing software, I came across another new product. This one was just released a month ago and was in Beta before that. It is called Surfulater. It is easy to miss when looking for note-taking software because it primarily lists itself as being for internet research and web information management.
It has the tree view and note window (with multiple notes strung together), very similar to Evernote, but I actually like Surfulater’s overall look and feel a little bit more. Some things Surfulater does better and some things Evernote does better. Surfulater is only $35 US whereas Evernote is free while in Beta but its price is not yet announced. But Surfulater works on Windows 98 and that makes all the difference for me. My first contacts with the author, and browsing the Surfulater forum seem to indicate that he gives excellent customer support and has great plans for the future.
