Finally, last night I successfully got the virtual rendering of the RichView window working. What that means is I now have a “viewport” into what looks like a complete Everything Report, but is really generated only as is needed.
I’ve been working on this for over a month. It took a number of trials of various sorts to get it working. The most difficult of these was maintaining a buffer of a couple of pages before and after the viewport, so that page ups and page downs would work seamlessly.
There’s still a fair bit of work left to convert the other parts of the program that use this virtual view. I’ve listed those in my Future Plans page, and there are 13 tasks left to get to Beta. I’ll really be savoring each and every one of those tasks as I get them done.
I want to be rigorous and do them right, but let’s see if I can get them all done before August is over. Nothing like a challenge!

Louis, I have been tracking your work and would like to ask if you could, rewriting the RTF and HTML export procedures wouldn’t it be easier to include support for PDF at this point. I read through your plans and PDF doesn’t show up until some of the maybe to-do’s. Many of the Genealogists I know use PDF for a considerable amount of their data they share within family’s, etc..
Just a question of taking on a opportunity while in the re-write phase of export commands.

Herb: The reason why I included both RTF and HTML export was because they were included in the TRichView package that I use. Whereas, PDF is supported only with another 3rd party add-in. See the RichView page on this.
So it’s much harder to implement than just rewriting like the other two. I’d have to evaluate the other packages, learn how they work, and then twiddle everthing so that the Everything Report in PDF will look exactly the same as in the program.I can’t see this being less than a couple of months work - and you know how overly optimistic I am at my time estimates.
But thanks for mentioning this. What I will do it move it up on my priority list. I still want to get to Version 2 as quickly as possible, with of course Version 1 first. Once there, I’ll reevaluate all priorities, and the ones my users like you have mentioned will get preference.
But sorry. No I won’t be adding PDF export until at least Version 2.

Louis, Understandable with all the extra work it would involve. Looking forward to the Alpha 1.0 release.
Hope things start to go smoother for you and Behold.
