A very interesting article today by Dick Eastman about the future of computerized Genealogy.
Specifically, Dick talks about central web-based databases and online collaboration. I’m amazed at the number of online programs that have surfaced in the last few years. My Genealogy Software Links page currently lists 37 online programs.
Obviously, as Dick relates, these programs will have to battle it out and see which ones emerge from the smoke.
So where does a program like Behold fit in? Like other desktop-based programs, Dick says we’ll be adding capabilities to exchange data with these online databases.
I’ll be keeping my eyes and ears open as to what’s going on. I’ll try to be ready to prepare online interfaces, once the genealogy world has decided who the major online players will be.
