Deep Ancestors - Blog comment by lkessler - 3 Oct 2017

Joe: I'm hoping to come up with a method of chromosome mapping using the match information and then display the map in the DMT output. If that is successful, then it will be an automated system that does what visual phasing does plus more (sometimes going back to generations further than grandparents). I think ...

Triangulation does NOT mean IBD - Blog comment by lkessler - 27 Sep 2017

Debbie: I agree with everything you say (except maybe one thing, which I'll likely write about in a future blog post). I was specifically talking about triangulation. Yes of course, a match between two people can be IBD. But the point of the article was to dispense with the notion that triangulation means ...

Triangulation does NOT mean IBD - Blog comment by lkessler - 26 Sep 2017

Thednageek (Leah): Excellent questions, and thank you for them because you're making me really think. I'm hoping to use triangulations to incrementally build up a chromosome map of ancestors the way Jim Bartlett has done and describes on his segmentology.org blog. It is still a work in progress. From a ...

Triangulation does NOT mean IBD - Blog comment by lkessler - 25 Sep 2017

thednageek: I think Ann beat you by a couple of minutes regarding 23andMe, so I had to give her credit for that update. Re your 3rd possibility: Whether a segment is from a recent common ancestor or a distant common ancestor, it's still the same segment from the same ancestor that all the people in the ...

What RootsTech was Like for an Innovator Showdown Finalist - Blog comment by lkessler - 21 Feb 2017

We'll likely get to meet again Tony, somewhere, sometime. I don't go to RootsTech each year. I previously was there in 2012 and 2014. I usually need a good reason to go, and not being there for 3 years was my good reason.

Double Match Triangulator - Version 1.4 - Blog comment by lkessler - 22 Jan 2017

Thanks, Jill. My motivational goal is really wanting the program to be able to figure out how some of these 7,000 DNA-relatives of mine are actually related to me. I think ultimately, I can get the program to do it. Slowly getting there. Louis

Triangulation and Missing a-b Segments - Blog comment by lkessler - 15 Jan 2017

Joe, I hope DMT will eventually be able to figure out likely MRCA's by segment on each half of each Chromosome pair. I think it will be possible with crossover locations and Double Match Groups but I won't know until I start the investigation and work out an algorithm. Louis

What to do When Your @FamilyTreeDNA Autosomal Results Come In - Blog comment by lkessler - 14 Jan 2017

Deck, The answers to your questions are: somewhat, somewhat, and somewhat. Sorry, but they are all long answer questions. Louis

2017 #RootsTech #InnovatorShowdown Contestants - Blog comment by lkessler - 7 Jan 2017

VyTräd looked very interesting to me as well. But I guess the judges liked Champollion better. Those two sort of do the same thing.
