probate... - Forum post by lkessler in Report a Problem - 20 Jul 2015

Colin, To be honest, I never did specifically check the Probate tag before the 1.1 release. I did group it with the other after-death events and by default it gives that message for any after-death events a year or longer after the death. How long would you say is a reasonable period after death for a probate ...

Add version to behold-setup.exe - Forum post by lkessler in Feature Suggestions - 20 Jul 2015

Colin, Thanks for the suggestion. The readme file that is included with the installation always starts with the current version number. Zipping forces another step and some people don't know how to unzip. Whereas by being an executable, you don't even have to download it, but you can run it right from the web. ...

probate... - Forum post by cp in Report a Problem - 19 Jul 2015

Hi Louis Very impressed with the new version so far! Worth the wait! One little wrinkle (rather than bug) is in how probate is being handled (you may think I've got a fixation with probate as it was me who suggested in March 2012 that it usually came after death :) ). Anyway this is a typical message I'm ...

Add version to behold-setup.exe - Forum post by cp in Feature Suggestions - 19 Jul 2015

How about having the plain behold-setup.exe zipped into a file with the version? When you unzip, it general creates an outer folder with the version and the file within is as as virgin as you intend. Some people are nervous of downloading exposed 'exe' files anyway!

What might be a temprary alternative to Behold - Forum post by cp in General Discussion - 19 Jul 2015

Hi Louis and Arnold I've been using Family Historian heavily (pending Behold!) and with one small caveat* it's gedcoms are accepted by Behold without any errors or cautions. FH uses Gedcom as its file system so there is no conversion to think of. Cheers, Colin * FH allows you to create custom events and ...

Line length restriction - Forum post by lkessler in Questions and Answers - 18 Mar 2015

Thanks, Arnold for sending this. The problem is fixed and will be included in the upcoming version 1.1. Also, in Version 1.1, I've made the missing BOM a warning, since although Behold handles this, some programs won't correctly process a UTF-8 file without the BOM. Despite the incorrect messages, the current ...

Line length restriction - Forum post by arnold in Questions and Answers - 18 Mar 2015

Sent a shortened version of the files which shows the problem to you off-list. It has no BOM but is encoded as UTF-8 and is recognized by Behold as UTF-8 and has 1 CHAR UTF-8 even so, Behold complains about the missing BOM. But that is supposed to be one of the advantages of UTF-8 - BOM not required. ;-) even ...

Line length restriction - Forum post by lkessler in Questions and Answers - 17 Mar 2015

Arnold, This seems like it might be that the file has a BOM (Byte Order Mark) that is inconsistent with the 1 CHAR set specified in the file, or the GEDCOM file might not match the 1 CHAR set. Would you mind sending me at least the log file, and (if you don't mind) the GEDCOM file as well, and I can see what's ...
