Can GEDCOM 7.0 Succeed? - Blog comment by cconser - 22 Jun 2021
Mr. Kessler: I think you misunderstood me. I agree with you that formatting has no place in GEDCOM and was not advocating for it. Thanks for pointing me to your interesting article. Your suggestion for a defined library of source element tags is an elegant solution that GEDCOM sorely needs.

Can GEDCOM 7.0 Succeed? - Blog comment by lkessler - 22 Jun 2021
cconser: I am strongly of the opinion that formatting and punctuation have no place in GEDCOM. GEDCOM is for transferring data. Formatting and punctuation should be left up to your software. It should decide how it wants to display something. You should not force anything on it.

Can GEDCOM 7.0 Succeed? - Blog comment by cconser - 22 Jun 2021
Thanks again. My main problem with GEDCOM's source tags/fields is that genealogists use such a variety of sources that it is nearly impossible to anticipate them using a few fields - even given the flexibility of the PAGE tag. What guarantee do you have that the Family Tree List is correct in the first place? Your data might be 100% correct, ...

Using a GEDCOM file to add to FamilySearch - Blog comment by lkessler - 25 Feb 2021
Hi Uwe,
I'm putting my information, which I trust, up on FamilySearch, for others to access and possibly connect to.
I always evaluate any information I get from FamilySearch (or from anyone else's genealogy for that matter) before adding it to my family tree.
