My Whole Genome Sequencing. The VCF File - Blog comment by lkessler - 12 Feb 2019

Interesting. You got over 100,000 more usable SNPs from your combined file than I did. That's a lot. I wonder why. And thanks for your link to Krahn's program. I'm a Windows guy, but his template will be of interest to me. I'll likely be custom programming my own extract once I get my BAM file. Yes, Dante ...

Genetic Clusters and DNAGedcom - Blog comment by lkessler - 1 Feb 2019

Interesting, Jim. Of course, when someone has mapped as much of their chromosomes as you have, you're a step up on most of us and can leverage that data with other tools. So it is good to know that you found clustering useful on top of everything else you've done.

Genetic Clusters and DNAGedcom - Blog comment by lkessler - 23 Jan 2019

Thank you Jonathan for your comment, and for creating your Shared Clustering tool. See my next blog post Comparing Genetic Clusters that compares the specific results. GEDCOM 1 Lives! - Blog comment by lkessler - 17 Sep 2018

Wow! That's great news Phillip. Since I retired, programming for genealogy and DNA analysis has more than filled my need for having new challenges and aspirations. I hope you also enjoy the process and get FHS to be the program you always wanted it to be. p.s. I tweeted your news, and included an image of ...

Comparing Raw Data from 5 DNA Testing Companies - Blog comment by lkessler - 2 Sep 2018

Winz: Yes, AA means father is A and mother is A at that position. I can’t answer your 2nd question yet, because I don’t currently know much about what the whole genome results will provide. I have taken Big Y-500, so hopefully I’ll learn enough to be able to see if I can compare the results in some way.

Comparing Raw Data from 5 DNA Testing Companies - Blog comment by lkessler - 2 Sep 2018

Vanlaargen. Thanks for the advance warning. Yes, sometimes these company’s time estimates are only as good as a programmer’s time estimates are. :-)
