Louis

See http://www.tamurajones.net/DetectingGEDCOM5.5EL.xhtml
Also, Tamura states:
The illegal VERS value invalidates the GEDCOM header and as a rule, GEDCOM readers should reject files that do not even contain a valid GEDCOM header. A forgiving GEDCOM reader that ...

Build a BetterGEDCOM - Forum post by brett in Questions and Answers - 22 Feb 2012
Agreed. I am looking forward to a standard that will be supported, so I can exchange data with others, and others with me, with no loss or change.

Date format - GEDCOM 5.5.1 - Forum post by brett in Questions and Answers - 9 Feb 2012
Thanks Louis.

However, if Behold will ...

Date format - GEDCOM 5.5.1 - Forum post by brett in Questions and Answers - 9 Feb 2012
Where sufficient data is not recorded eg only 13 APR, should the GEDCOM be produced containing or excluding the non valid data?
Is it correct under GEDCOM standard to convert non valid dates to a date phrase?
When 1.5 or 2.0 arrives, how do you think Behold will export date phrase to GEDCOM?
