Unconnected Individuals - Forum post by lkessler in Report a Problem - 22 Jan 2006

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "they don't have defined parents". Does your genealogy program show these people as brothers/sisters?Can you e-mail me a screen shot of the problem, or if you don't mind, send me your GEDCOM and tell me which people are involved in the problem and I'll take a look at it. ...

Unconnected Individuals - Forum post by kartiksubbarao in Report a Problem - 22 Jan 2006

Behold reports some people in my GEDCOM file as being unconnected, but I don't think they should be. These people are brothers/sisters of "connected" people, so I don't see why they are listed as unconnected. They don't have defined parents, that's the only difference.

Omitting Maiden/Married name calculation - Forum post by kartiksubbarao in Questions and Answers - 22 Jan 2006

By default, Behold displays women with both maiden and married names, with the maiden name in brackets. With different name orders in the GEDCOM file (such as those in India), this ends up being incorrect and confusing. Is it possible to set an option to just display the maiden name for women, without trying to ...

Should Behold continue to support Windows 98? - Forum post by Dilworth in General Discussion - 12 Jan 2006

Maybe I'm just cheap, but I can't see throwing out a paid for operating system when it will do what I need for now. I have XP on one computer for those applications that need it, but I am also running Win98 on the three other computers at my home, because that is all they need. I have updated the hardware when ...

Should Behold continue to support Windows 98? - Forum post by rwcrooks in General Discussion - 11 Jan 2006

I haven't been on 98 in ages. I wouldn't waste your time (I'm pretty sure that the subject and preposition are mismatched in there). Let's face it, XP has been out sine 2001 or 2002, which makes it 4 years old.Concentrate on the present and future.

Should Behold continue to support Windows 98? - Forum post by lkessler in General Discussion - 10 Jan 2006

This is a bit of a poll. It will take extra work to support Windows 98, and some future features may not be possible if I want keep Behold Windows 98 compatible. How many of you still use Windows 98 and don't expect to upgrade or buy a new computer in the next few months? Should I continue to support Windows 98 ...

Problem with Name order from GEDCOM file - Forum post by kartiksubbarao in Report a Problem - 8 Jan 2006

Thanks for the quick response. Surname2 Given2 would be okay as a shortened form of the I2 person. A further abbreviated form for these people would be S2 M2 Given2, where S2 is the initial of the surname, and M2 is the initial of the middle name.Glad that I could provide a helpful suggestion :-) Good job on ...

Problem with Name order from GEDCOM file - Forum post by lkessler in Report a Problem - 6 Jan 2006

Thank you for posting this.I know there are other name variants, but I'm not familiar with them all and I haven't put specific coding into Behold to handle them yet. The GIVN and SURN tags are not used consistently among programs to properly define the name parts, but I should at some time put some code in to ...
