cconser: I am strongly of the opinion that formatting and punctuation have no place in GEDCOM. GEDCOM is for transferring data. Formatting and punctuation should be left up to your software. It should decide how it wants to display something. You should not force anything on it.

Hi Uwe,
I'm putting my information, which I trust, up on FamilySearch, for others to access and possibly connect to.
I always evaluate any information I get from FamilySearch (or from anyone else's genealogy for that matter) before adding it to my family tree.

GEDCOM specs are still technically copywritten documents by the LDS Church. Hopefully one day, they'll make all their early GEDCOM specs available to everyone.

GEDCOM 5.5.5 simply cleans up GEDCOM 5.5.1. It makes the rules clearer and eliminates multiple ways of doing things. It does not add anything new. So anything that could not be exported in GEDCOM 5.5.1 still cannot be exported in 5.5.5 and you'll have to use the same or a very slightly modified ...
