Actually, redoing it sometimes takes less time. Doing it the first time often has a general goal, but you don't know the problems along the way until you encounter them, and then your path has to keep shifting a bit. This can sometimes take a very long time, e.g. my month and a half foray with my data structure ...

"They seem to be a remarkable mixture of sophisticated and antiquated thinking and programming."That's a great way to say it. They are of course the geniuses behind the invention of GEDCOM, yet they haven't updated it in, what, 10 years?Louis

Not Combining multiple GEDCOM Files correctly - Forum post by lkessler in Report a Problem - 16 May 2006
I think I know already what you are talking about. I see in the file I downloaded from LDS Familysearch to test the problem, that the INDI records look something like this: 0 @I693K-W4@ INDII believe the Indi ID number is used to uniquely identify individuals in their complete library, and the same person ...

ALL CAPS vs Capitalized - Forum post by lkessler in Report a Problem - 11 May 2006
This is excellent! You're doing some testing with multiple GEDCOMs that not too many other people have done. Up to now, I have purposely not changed the case of names. My thinking was that people would primarily be using Behold to find errors and inconsistencies in their own data, so that they could make ...

Invalid Pointer Operation - Forum post by lkessler in Report a Problem - 11 May 2006
Well I outsmarted myself there. I completely forgot that I was using my "smart search", which ignored the leading hyphens, placing it alphabetically under "U". I'll definitely fix that!Louis
